I spent more than two decades building a career as a corporate and commercial lawyer. Stints in private practice in Malaysia, Singapore, and London culminated in a partner role at an international firm in Singapore. Having reached a senior level, I started to think differently about what lay ahead.
I had this nagging feeling that I was constantly putting a lot on hold. So I asked myself, “What do I really want long term? Is there a way I can achieve more work-life balance while still progressing my law career?”
Peerpoint has more than delivered on both those fronts. Since joining in 2018, I’ve handled a good mix of assignments with top-tier clients including, a global mass media corporation, a multinational oil, and gas company, and a global home appliances firm.
The variety of work has been very stimulating. I feel it helps me to stay relevant and enhance the value I can bring to clients. And after years at partner level - where my focus was divided amongst various competing demands - I’m also really enjoying rolling up my sleeves and doing more of the work myself.
The other big advantage of joining Peerpoint has been the ability to rebalance work and family life. Being able to choose assignments that suit my needs has been so rewarding. Whether it’s cooking, gardening, or spending time with my family, I feel I can enjoy it all more because I’m more present in the moment. I’ve also finally gone ahead and got a dog – my precious labradoodle, Darcey – something else I’d been wanting to do for years!
If you’d told me 10 years ago that my working life could span this much balance and variety, I’d have been sceptical, but it’s been such a welcome development.
