Supporting an energy company during major growth

One of North America’s leading energy transition companies was looking for wraparound support during a period of growth.

The challenge

To deliver on its vision for exponential growth, one of the clean energy companies leading North America’s energy transition announced a major expansion of its senior leadership team. This leadership team expansion included the appointment of a general counsel, with a mandate to grow the organization’s in-house legal team with a number of permanent hires. Whilst determining the optimal operating model to set their function up for growth, the general counsel required interim legal support to supplement their existing team.

What we did

After taking a detailed brief, we quickly identified a Peerpoint lawyer to provide this short-term capacity. In arranging this with the general counsel, it became apparent that they were facing another significant challenge in determining how best to design their new legal team. We therefore facilitated a series of conversations for the general counsel with A&O Consulting.

The outcome

A&O Consulting have since been advising the general counsel on their legal function build and strategic internal communications. Peerpoint lawyers have, in the meantime, been meeting the function’s changing capacity and capability needs on a flexible basis. This has been achieved by substituting one lawyer’s skillset for another’s as the organization’s needs evolved, as well as by having the Peerpoint lawyers provide support on an on-demand basis, as determined by the business’ needs each week.
