Providing specialist coverage at short notice

Delivering a seamless experience for a Hong Kong institution by providing two legal consultants with hard-to-find specialist skillsets.

The challenge

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), a world-class racing club and one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong, which combines philanthropy, entertainment and investments, needed to bridge two skillset gaps in their in-house legal team. The first request was to backfill one of their in-house funds experts and the second was for coverage in their employment team at very short notice.

What we did

In the first instance, we placed a seasoned funds and corporate legal consultant who was able to bring her experience to HKJC’s highly integrated business model and hit the ground running. This was of particular value given the difficulty in finding top-quality funds lawyers open to short-term projects.

Following this, Peerpoint then swiftly handled the second urgent request for a lawyer with employment law expertise. Committed to meeting HKJC’s needs, we managed to place another experienced legal consultant within one week so that the client’s business was not exposed. The consultant’s seniority and depth of experience meant she was able to operate as sole employment counsel and provide valuable expertise.

The outcome

The client was able to find high-quality solutions to their multiple specialist resourcing challenges. They particularly valued the flexibility that Peerpoint was able to provide without compromising on the quality of legal consultants put forward. These consultants supported on important and valuable work while allowing the client space to identify the right profiles for permanent hires, thus ensuring a smooth transition within the team. Ultimately, the quality and experience of the legal consultants Peerpoint provided meant HKJC had seamless coverage during a period of change.
